PARENTS are being encouraged to fill in and return their children’s flu vaccination consent forms.
Over a quarter of children eligible for the free nasal vaccine didn’t receive it last year. Health professionals are reminding parents of the benefits of the vaccine which will be given to over 450,000 primary school pupils across Scotland.
No child will receive the vaccination without consent it is vital the forms, being sent home in school bags, are filled in and returned.
Dr Elvira Garcia, NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s immunisation coordinator, said: “Getting the flu vaccine is particularly important for children with health conditions, such as diabetes or chronic heart disease.
“We are asking parents to return the completed consent form on time to ensure their child receives the free flu vaccination this winter. The vaccine is simply the best defence against flu.”
