A CUMNOCK DJ will make his European debut in Ibiza and Copenhagen later this year.

Music production student Stephen Holland has been DJing since he was 15 and will take to the stage at the Ibiza Trance Event on September 7 before heading for Project DANMARK on October 19 and 20.

Fresh from his performance at Coloursfest, Scotland’s biggest dance festival, the 39-year-old is looking forward to the new experience. Stephen said: “When I got the gigs in Europe, the felling was a bit surreal but it’s sank in now.

“It’s time to focus on them and be professional but at the same time enjoy it because it’s all about the music.

“I’m most looking forward to the whole experience about getting to go abroad solely for the purpose of playing music, it’s a dream come true.

“Last week at Coloursfest I found out I was the only DJ from Ayrshire playing.

“That I was quite chuffed about.”

Stephen currently studies music production at JAM studios in Ayr and is project manger of utterstudios, something he thinks has helped in his quest to make music.

He added: “Utterstudios is part of utterradio, a newly downloadable app and online radio station. The thing behind utterstudios is to give young and up and coming DJ’s the chances that we never had growing up.

“After 24 years DJing things are starting to happen for me.My next gig is next Friday at Infected Records showcase in soundmagic studios in Ayr.

“I’m running a music production workshop from 5pm to encourage people to see what it’s like.

“In future, I would like to travel the world and play music as well as releasing my own music which is what I’m working hard to try and achieve.”
