DRIVERS have been warned to expect major delays as a section of the A76 is closed for resurfacing.

Two complete closures will take place between Friday, August 11, and Tuesday, August 15.

These will affect traffic coming off the Bellfield Interchange roundabout which carries traffic, from Ayr, Irvine and Glasgow, travelling in the direction of Cumnock.

Work is being carried out on the 2.5k (1.9miles) stretch between the Bowhouse and Bellfield roundabouts by Scotland TranServ.

Project manager, Lee Donnelly, said: “This stretch of the A76 will therefore be closed between 8pm on Friday (August 11) and reopened at 6am on Monday, August 14. A further overnight closure from 8pm on Monday until 6am on Tuesday (August 15) will allow us to complete the works with minimal impact.”

Local diversions will be in place on both occasions.

When the £400,000 project is complete, drivers will find the road less bumpy thanks to the resurfacing.
