SANQUHAR Primary School pupils have been keeping fit with Let’s Get Sporty and Loreburn Housing Association’s after school football sessions.

Kids from P4 to P7 were coached by the not-for-profit social enterprise who aim to provide young people with training, mentoring and employment opportunities through the delivery of sport and physical activity.

Mrs Wilson, Sanquhar Primary’s head teacher, said: “We are very grateful to Loreburn Housing for funding after-school football training sessions for P4-7 pupils. These sessions ran for eight weeks each Monday and were led by Let’s Get Sporty coach, Liam.

“The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the sessions which were held outside whenever possible and coach Liam provided opportunities for games and training and they enjoyed the mix of skills on offer.”

Lets Get Sporty work across Dumfries and Galloway to promote health, wellbeing and employability skills. A spokesperson for the group said: “Let’s Get Sporty are enjoying working closely with Loreburn Housing and Sanquhar Primary School to deliver fun and exciting sports clubs for children after school.

“Coach Liam always mentions how great it is to see so many children getting involved and staying active.”
