Politicians David and Oliver Mundell are getting ready to hit the road as they carry out a summer surgery tour across the region.

The MP and MSP will be visiting 60 communities between Monday July 24 and Tuesday August 1, enabling constituents to come and see them with any issues they want to raise.

This is the pair’s first joint summer surgery tour following Oliver’s election to the Scottish Parliament last year, with David having carried out a tour of his vast constituency since first being elected in 2005.

They will be in Upper Nithsdale on Tuesday, July 25.

Kirkconnel - Miners Memorial Hall: 3pm to 3.30pm.

Kelloholm - Hillview Leisure Centre: 3.45pm to 4.15pm.

Sanquhar - Community Centre: 4.30pm to 5.30pm.

David Mundell said: “I have always believed being in being as accessible as possible to my constituents as a MP and my annual summer surgery tour offers people a perfect opportunity to come and see me in their community.

“These surgeries are on top of my regular advertised ones and enable me to get across the whole of Dumfriesshire.

“I’m very much looking forward to carrying it out alongside Oliver this year and it makes perfect sense for us to link up to take on issues of concern to our constituents.

“Of course, this is only the first part of the tour for me. I’ll be going around Clydesdale and Tweeddale during September”

Oliver added: “I’m looking forward to visiting communities across Dumfriesshire to find out about the wide range of issues that are affecting them.

“It is a very vast constituency but it I hugely important as a local representative to make yourself available to constituents all year round.

“I’m sure there will be a lot of different topics brought by constituents and it’s going to be very enjoyable doing it alongside my Dad.

“The summer recess offers a perfect opportunity to carry out a tour and I hope to see as many constituents as possible over the course of the tour.”
