RESIDENTS are being invited to join a new group being set up by East Ayrshire Leisure.

Called Museums Friends, its members would get involved in the high profile work carried out across places like the Baird Institute and Burns House Museum.

Others include the Dick Institute, and Dean Castle, with the group meeting four times a year to support the running of the venues in a number of ways.

Linked to several of East Ayrshire Leisure projects is the opportunity to volunteer and to learn new skills.

Another project which residents in all parts of East Ayrshire can play a part in is the £5.2m restoration and refurbishment of Dean Castle.

As part of the early stages of this project, a small number of people formed a Focus Group to test ideas and to make sure that the castle’s development proposals would help create a facility that would be open and accessible.
