SANQUHAR student Lewis McGinn has laid down the benchmark during his studies at Ayrshire College.

Along with his colleagues on the joinery course, he has been working on a number of projects in and around the Kilmarnock campus.

Their latest task was to help their fellow students relax — by providing two benches based at Dean Castle Country Park, where horticulture, tree surgery and landscaping courses are based.

Staff at the park have provided students with designated areas where they can carry out their coursework, and their new learning environment had almost everything they could ask for.

The only thing that was missing was a rest area where students could enjoy a break.

Joinery students at the Kilmarnock Campus were only too happy to accommodate the students’ request for a couple of benches to be produced and delivered to the park.

Access to Construction student Lewis McGinn, aged 18, said: “We have worked on a number of projects over the year that involve working on your own and working as part of a team. It’s great to work together with the rest of the class to complete projects we know will be appreciated.
