EX-CUMNOCK Academy pupil Shanna Hodge has released a single on Ayrshire College’s new record label.
Using the artist name, Shanna, the NC Sound Production student’s recording of Survivors will be the first offering of Sun Turtle Records.
The record label was set up to give local musicians an opportunity to record and release original music, while a promotions company, High Tide PR, has also been launched.
Shanna sang at a college open mic night, blew away students and staff with her performance, and the team behind Sun Turtle Records quickly snapped her up.
A launch night, organised by High Tide, takes place at at Bakers NiteClub in Kilmarnock on Thursday, June 1, when Shanna will perform the song.
She said “It’s been great so far, it’s exciting to be getting my music out there and to receive such positive feedback.”
Lecturers David McAulay and Murray Baxter developed the initial idea and allocated roles to each student on the course, covering everything from talent scouting to marketing.
