CO-OP Funeralcare in Cumnock have thanked the public for their generosity after the overwhelming amount of donations they received for their Sal’s Shoes appeal.

Staff at the Glaisnock Street office were collecting unwanted kid’s shoes earlier this year for children across the world who may otherwise not have any.

And the community has rallied round with a whopping 134 pairs of shoes being donated.

Employee Gillian Patrick, who first had the idea to help the Sal’s Shoes appeal, was delighted with the response and said: “We have now packaged them all up and are sending 134 pairs of shoes to Sal’s Shoes to be given to children all over the world who are living in poverty. Thank you to everyone who donated.”

The shoes will now be sent to Surrey where they will be distributed to children who need them.

Sal’s Shoes was founded in 2013 and in its first year distributed 5,000 pairs of shoes. Today, it is 20 times as many.
