ELIZABETH Brown is Cumnock Young Citizen of the Year for 2016.
A member of East Ayrshire Young Carers, Elizabeth has overcome some personal difficulties to become a vibrant, more confident young woman.
Annette Bell, one of the organisers of the award and presentation ceremony, which took place at Cumnock Old Church said Elizabeth was a ‘delightful young lady and a worthy recipient of this award’.
Ms Bell added: “Elizabeth attends St. Joseph’s Academy, has a part-time job as well as being a young carer. She so impressed her peers that she was asked to speak at a Young Carers’ Convention.
“The Cumnock Young Citizen of the Year award by the Old Church to recognise good works and citizenship displayed by young people who live, or attend school, in Cumnock.
“It continues to be supported by the church with input from schools, youth groups, churches and other organisations in the town.”
