THEY may be party colleagues but MPs Corri Wilson and Alan Brown became sworn enemies last Saturday — for 90 minutes...or maybe more?

Visiting Townhead Park for the derby match between the home side, Cumnock, and neighbours Auchinleck Talbot they were both seeing the refurbished ground for the first time.

A welcoming committee of officials from both clubs greeted them at the main entrance before they enjoyed hospitality prior to the kick-off.

It was when the match started that the pair had divided loyalties — Ms Wilson supporting Cumnock and Mr Brown cheering on Talbot.

He was the happier at the end of the match though, as the Beechwood Park side were 1-0 winners.

After the dust had settled, Ms Wilson took to social media to thank Cumnock for their hospitality, Mr Brown for being a good sport and the players for producing a great game.

While echoing his colleague/ opponent’s sentiments, Mr Brown added: “I am not gloating over the 1-0 win.”

In reply, as the banter continued, Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise (CJCE) said that they had ‘the best MP’.

A spokesman for Cumnock FC said: “Both MPs were visiting Townhead Park for the first time since five years of hard work by CJCE resulted in a total transformation of the facilities and playing surface, and both were impressed with all that had been achieved.”
