VERY young learners in Dalrymple saw stars as they celebrated the opening of their new early childhood centre.

They were the centre of attention as showed off their artwork which was created in star-shaped cards.

The new extension includes playrooms, two primary school classrooms and an outdoor area for fun, games, activities, learning and play.

In addition, the project has provided a facility for social, sport, community opportunities in the shape of a new community centre. MSP Jeane Freeman opened the centre, which was built by East Ayrshire Council thanks to an investment of £2.1m.

She said: “The Scottish Government is committed to getting it right for every child, and we know that children reach their full potential not just through education, but also from play and sport, and from being part of resilient and thriving communities.

“The opening of this new early childhood centre is great news for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, especially the community of Dalrymple..”

Deputy leader of the council Tom Cook, who attended the opening, added: “This new centre gives our young learners and staff a superb, bright and inspirational learning environment.

“It’s a really exciting time for Dalrymple and in the last few months, I know just how excited the children, parents, staff and local people have been as the work has progressed. I’m delighted that it is now open.”

and look forward to the new facilities becoming a focal point for the communities to enjoy social, sport, community and educational successes, now and for generations still to come.”
