OVER £9,000 worth of tools have been swiped from a site in Kirkconnel.

Officer from Sanquhar police office now are hunting thieves who pinched the tools from the yard of JMC Contracts in St Conal's Square and they reckon they are trying to trace multiple suspects.

The theft happened sometime between Friday November 25 and Monday November 28.

Tools, including a T-mac 5' high tool box and tools, electric drills and grinders, a power washer, wacker plates, a jack hammer, Stihl saws, a cement mixer and other builders tools, were all taken when a container at the yard was broken into.

Constable Scott Graham from Sanquhar police office said: "The amount of tools stolen in this theft would have required a number of people and a large vehicle to remove them from the site. We are asking for the help of the public to see if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious around the yard, which sits between St Conal's Square and the River Nith, over the weekend. We are carrying out door to door enquiries and anyone who can help should give us a call at Sanquhar on the 101 number."
