A LOGAN woman is at her wit's end thanks to cheeky fly tippers dumping rubbish outside her home.

Barbara Watson has been left frustrated after lazy dumpers left their waste right outside her house on Boswell Crescent and she says she's had enough after years of fly tipping.

She said: "It's been going on for years and years.

"I'm fed up phoning the council about it because we always end up with more rubbish dumped no matter what."

Among the discarded items dumped outside her home includes, trees, fencing, beds and even a budgie cage.

She added: "One night I could hear something outside at about 11.30pm. I looked out the window and a man was outside dumping rubbish so I shouted out and told him to move it.

"We've had two bed frames out there, trees, and a budgie cage and rabbit hutch.

"Something has to be done to stop people fly tipping stuff there."

A spokesperson for East Ayrshire Council added: “The council is aware of this issue and is currently investigating the situation.

“Officers from the council’s Corporate Enforcement Unit are monitoring the area and signage will be erected warning of the penalties for fly tipping. Officers are authorised to issue Fixed Penalty Notices imposing penalties of £200 on anyone caught fly tipping, and to report for prosecution where the incident is more serious."

Fly tipping has been an issue that East Ayrshire has taken an tough approach on.

East Ayrshire Trading Standards added: "With reports of Fly Tipping increasing, our officers have been investigating and dealing with more incidents in recent weeks. Householders are reminded not to give their waste to an unlicensed waste carrier as doing so is still subject to the £200 Fixed Penalty Notice or report to the Procurator Fiscal, where the fine imposed can be up to £40,000. If you have witnessed Fly Tipping, please contact the Corporate Enforcement Unit and report the offender".

Reports of fly tipping can be made to the Corporate Enforcement Unit on 01563 553538 or 01563 553520.
