MUIRKIRK will retains its GP services.

Local GP services will be retained in the village after the practice was taken over by Tanyard GP in Cumnock

Dr Kondol and Partners provided the service for local people as a branch surgery. However, due to the retirement of GPs, the practice will be unable to continue serving the local community.

Tanyard GP Practice team in Cumnock has agreed to take over the practice and will ensure that local people continue to have access to a full GP and practice team.

Repeat prescriptions and medical records will be transferred over to the new systems in time for the hand-over on October 1.

Residents got the chance to meet their new medical team at an event in St Thomas Hall in Muirkirk on Wednesday night where it was revealsd that nurses will be available at the practice from Monday to Friday and GP's taking appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Eddie Fraser, Director of East Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “We are delighted that patients in Muirkirk will continue to be able to see a family doctor or member of the practice team within their local community.

“It is with thanks to both Dr Kondol and Partners and Tanyard Medical Practice that this process will be completed with no disruption to patient care. We would also reassure Muirkirk Practice patients that the administration staff in the practice will remain the same.

“I would encourage Muirkirk residents to pop along to the ‘Meet your new Practice team’ event and ask any questions and find out any more information they may need.”
