TRAVELLERS will have to plan ahead this weekend as a section of the A70 closes for works.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, as part of its ongoing programme to improve the condition of the road network, will be carrying out resurfacing works on the A70 at Killoch near Ochiltree.

The works will be carried out on Saturday October 1 and Sunday October 2 and also from Saturday October 8 and Sunday October 9.

The works will take place on the road adjacent to Killoch Depots from, and including, the U717 Creoch Road junction to, but not including, the U74 Bardarroch Road junction.

On Saturday and Sunday October 1 and 2, the A70 at Killoch will be closed between 7am and 7pm on both days, when signed accordingly.

On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October the affected length of the A70 will be closed between 7am on Saturday October 8 and 4am on Monday October 10, when signed accordingly.

The alternative route will be via the A70, to B730 Drongan, to B7046 Sinclairston, to U728 Glenconner, before rejoining the A70 at Mote Toll and vice versa.

The Ayrshire Road Alliance are warning motorists to plan journey and to allow for extra travel time.
