ERIN Guild was in the thick of the action again when the latest in a series of fundraisers was held in her name.

The seven-year-old, who has a rare condition, has previously taken part in an energy-sapping cross-country run and also sang onstage at a packed Glasgow concert hall.

Her latest venture was carrying out a leg wax on a brave volunteer at a barn dance held in aid of Cystinosis Foundation UK, boosting the running total to £16,123.

Parents, Emma and Stevie, are humbled at how much the community around their home at Ashmark, near New Cumnock. has rallied round their efforts on behalf of the charity.

Emma said: “We are once again overwhelmed with the support we have been getting, from all over, for our quest to find better treatments — and hopefully one day a cure for Erin.

“At the barn dance we had lots of fun and had everything from a one-hour Prosecco/cocktail bar to three young men getting their legs waxed and Erin had a go on one boy’s leg.

“Every penny we raise goes directly to the charity as they are entirely voluntary and do not have any admin costs or wages to pay out.

“But really it is as much raising awareness about the condition and there have been so many people to thank.”

New Cumnock Primary pupil Erin is one of only 250 people in the UK that have cystinosis, and the charity is committed to finding a cure for the brave youngster and others like her.
