AUCHINLECK came to a standstill as the community bid a final farewell to Rory Harley Davidson.

A parade of bikers took part in the 23-year-old’s funeral service and escorted him on his last journey to the town’s cemetery.

Many of the people who turned out to celebrate the life of Rory were wearing specially made hoodies bearing his nickname and the date he tragically died in a road accident.

So many floral tributes were delivered to the family’s home that there was no room for them all, while hundreds of cards and messages of sympathy on social media helped ease the pain.

Rory’s mum Maria reflected on her son’s life and admitted he was ‘no angel’ but always thought of others and would have done anything for anyone.

If he could help someone out he would without giving it a second thought. He loved children and had lots of patience for his friends’ children and for youngsters who lived in his street giving them money whenever he saw them.

Rory loved a carry on and often got into trouble at school because of his pranks. Most of his pals were the same and they all turned out to be smashing lads.

From an early age, Rory loved motorbikes. He had motorbikes throughout his childhood and had a special aptitude for riding bikes and driving. He was a natural and had no fear.

He got his driving licence, then his HGV2 licence and latterly his bike licence as soon as he could.

Maria said: “He had loads and loads of friends and had a nickname for everyone but, he did not have much time for authority and could spot the police from miles away.

“On the day of the funeral, the family were all amazed at the turnout as traffic came to a standstill to allow for the procession.”

Bikers, including the Blue Angels, who controlled the traffic, The Tribe and many of Rory’s friends on bikes were prominent on the day, including the minister, Steve Clipston from Auchinleck Parish Church who rode his own motorbike.

In the church itself, Soulstripper from AC/DC was played as was Zombie Nation, two tracks to ensure that Rory had a rocking send off.

“I would like to thank friends, family, all at HMP Kilmarnock, neighbours, the Blue Angels and all of Rory’s many friends for their kindness, generosity and support.

“We are all thinking of Don Molloy as well, who was badly injured in the crash and remains in hospital. Hopefully he will make a full recovery...I know that’s what Rory would want,” added Maria.
