IF you spot an ostrich on the loose in Patna then you are definitely not dreaming.

The Scottish SPCA is warning members of the public  to be on the lookout for an ostrich family that has been spotted wandering around Patna.

There been several sightings of the giant bird and its young chicks and the Scottish SPCA is advising members of the public not to approach them.

Animal Rescue Officer Alistair Hill said: "It is unclear where the ostrich has come from but we think it may also have young with it.

"Anyone in the area who spots the ostrich or its young should call us as soon as possible on 03000 999 999 so we can keep an eye on where these birds are.

“We are warning members of the public not to approach the adult ostrich and to especially avoid approaching its young as ostriches can be very protective and can become extremely aggressive.”

Pranksters have already taken advantage of the situation, with a spoof Patna Ostrich Twitter account.

The cheeky jokers even vowed to win the Cumnock Chronicle Pet Idol 2016.

Cumnock Chronicle:
