THERE have been four sexual offences committed at local schools in the last two years.

Figures obtained by the Chronicle show the number of crimes committed at local schools since 2014.

Four sexual offences were noted, but the schools have not been named as a result of data protection laws. Mo further information was provided because of the low numbers involved and the nature of the crimes, the individuals involved could be easily identified.

Cumnock Academy topped the schools with the highest crime rate.

The school saw 26 reported offences over the two year stretch, including three people in possession of a knife, two hoax calls to the emergency services and one assault of an emergency worker.

Auchinleck Academy had 20 reported incidents, including five assaults, one instance of racially aggravated conduct, two hoax emergency calls and one of keeping and supplying explosives.

Doon Academy racked up six reported incidents, Greenmill Primary had five, Barshare Primary had one and St Patrick's Primary in Auchinleck had two.
