THE local Scottish Labour part took its case for the UK remaining in the EU to the streets of Cumnock.

The Labour In for Scotland campaign was out pleading its case in Cumnock last week for a strong Remain vote in the European Referendum.

Speaking for the local Labour In campaign, Alastair Osborne said: "There are so many good reason for us to stay in the EU. 25,000 Scottish jobs depend on Europe. Paid holiday, maternity and paternity leave are protected by Europe. In 2015 Scottish companies exported £6.7 billion worth of goods to the European Union. In the past European funding has helped restore the devastation in our towns and communities caused by Tory Government cuts and the EU has meant no wars in Europe for the past 70 years or more. If we leave we are turning our back on cooperation and collective action. And as for negotiating new arrangements with the rest of Europe once we leave, as Neil Kinnock said in Scotland last week, 'if your not at the table- you're on the menu'''.
