POLICE have made two arrests for break ins to cars and property in Mauchline and New Cumnock.

Two men were arrested following the reports of break-ins to vehicles and properties in the area.

On Friday April 29 a 36 year old man from Mauchline was arrested for his alleged involvement in break-ins to vehicles in the Mauchline area.

The next day, on Saturday April 30, a 29 year old man from New Cumnock was arrested for his alleged involvement in a break in at property in the Kilmarnock area.

Chief Inspector John Cairns, Area Commander in East Ayrshire, said: “Crimes of dishonesty have been highlighted as a priority by our communities. We are committed to working with communities to tackle these concerns and bring offenders to justice.

"In these recent arrests members of the local community played an important part in assisting local officers and I am grateful for their assistance.

"We will continue to actively pursue those involved in criminality - communities can help us by reporting any suspicious activity and passing on any information they have.
