NEW Cumnock will get an update on the latest flood prevention works at a public meeting today (Monday).

MSP Graeme Pearson is hosting the public meeting at New Cumnock Community Centre tonight where the key agencies will address the public and update them on current plans in relation to flood prevention.

It could prove to be a firey meeting after the Hogmanay flooding debacle.

It has been revealed that Mr Pearson will NOT stand for re-election at the Scottish elections in May and he is looking to make sure that the plans which have been developed over the past year are finally implemented and that the community can see how the plans will affect them and timescales for work to commence.

The meeting will also give residents the opportunity to hear evidence from the working group.

The meeting takes place tonight (Monday February 8) in New Cumnock Community Centre at 7pm.
