CUMNOCK and Muirkirk are getting a roads revamp - thanks to a pledge made by East Ayrshire Council.

Roads in both of these areas are being resurfaced as part of a £500,000 budget commitment made by Leader of the Council, Councillor Douglas Reid.

The aim is to improve the condition of the roads within local housing estates.

The programme should take four weeks and will be carried out by the Ayrshire Roads Alliance.

It all starts on Avisyard Avenue, Craigens in Cumnock on Monday February 8.

It will then extend into Netherthird Road, Cumnock, Cairnscadden Road, Cumnock, Glenlamont, Cumnock and finally Pagan Walk in Muirkirk.

To ensure the safety of both the roads operatives and the travelling public the streets to be resurfaced will be closed to vehicular traffic, when signed accordingly, and local diversions will be in place.

Residents will receive a notice of roadworks before the works will start on each street and advisory signs will also be erected in advance of the works.

Please note the works are weather dependant and may be postponed at times due to adverse weather, the works will continue on the next available day.

Delays will be inevitable during these essential works and the Ayrshire Roads Alliance apologises for any inconvenience caused.
