WORK at the home of Cumnock Juniors took a step closer to being complete this week.
Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise (CJCE), the group behind the redevelopment of the Townhead Park playing surface, were given the news that they wanted to hear this week.
The Chronicle reporter last week how work had been held up as they awaited approval for their flood management plan from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA).
Now the CJCE are celebrating after SEPA gave the plan the green light and that now means that the final phase to complete the transformation from a regular playing surface to the new all weather 3G pitch that will be used by Cumnock Juniors and the rugby club.
The club can now press ahead with plans to complete the work in the next six weeks.
A statement on the club website said: "CJCE are pleased to let everyone know that the flood management plan has been approved by SEPA. The contractor will be back on site as soon as they can arrange machinery. We will give an estimated completion soon. Thanks to Jim Malcolm and SGS for their work in getting the revised plan through."
