BUS passengers had a lucky escape after it ended up in a ditch in Auchinleck.

The Stagecoach bus was heading from Auchinleck towards Cumnock on the Barony Road on Thursday November 12 when it left the road.

The bus was carrying eight passengers when it ploughed in to the ditch at around 3.40pm.

Emergency crews from Cumnock attended the scene as the single decker bus was left beached.

All eight passengers and the driver of the bus were not inured and firefighters made the vehicle safe before the bus was recovered.

It's believed that strong winds and heavy surface water carried the bus off the road as the area suffered treacherous conditions.
