A DRONGAN man busted with a hash haul in Ayr has been handed a six month custodial sentence.

Keir Goodwin, 20, from Coronation Road was stopped by police on High Street in Ayr back in July where they found him in possession of £360 worth of cannabis and cannabis resin.

Goodwin was tracked by CCTV camera's in Poundland on High Street after taking an item and police were alerted.

Goodwin left the store and headed towards Newmarket Street, he then ran back on to High Street where he was nabbed by police.

Appearing at Ayr Sheriff Court, the court heard how officers searched a black sports bag belonging to Goodwin that reeked of cannabis and discovered 34 grams of the class B drug.

Goodwin was charged with being concerned in the supply of the controlled drug.

Sheriff John Montgomery sentencing noted: "Being concerned with the intent to supply a controlled drug is a serious matter."

Sheriff Montgomery handed Goodwin a six month sentence in a young offenders institution.
