A LOCAL man has secured his spot in the London Marathon as he fights to raise cash for a children's charity.
Derek Montgomery has been awarded a spot in next years race.
He said: "This will be my fourth successive London Marathon in aid of Children with Cancer UK.
"Last year i raised just under £6,000 and have raised around £15,000 for cancer charities since I took up running five years ago."
Now Derek is involved in the annual Rangers fans v Celtic fans match in aid of the charity which has raised thousands of pounds and is being held this year at Loch Park, New Cumnock at 12pm on Sunday October 11.
Local residents Scott McSkimming and Kris Hynd will manage the two teams which is held in great spirits by all involved.
Both Rangers and Celtic contribute to the event as well.
