The Chronicle reported last week how the Barrhill Community Education Centre on Bank Avenue in Cumnock - which is now under the stewardship of the Cumnock Area Musical Production Society (CAMPS) - was targeted by yobs who smashed 21 windows at the popular community centre.

The brainless vandals struck with two separate attacks between 9pm on Saturday May 2 and 8am on Monday May 4.

The attack left the group facing the prospect of having to cough up for repair works.

Ciss McCreadie from CAMPS said: "“It was lucky that there was nobody in the hall at the time because someone could have been badly hurt.

“"We'’re hoping that someone should be out to sort it by the end of the week and we can go ahead with all of the plans we have for the centre.

“"We were just so downhearted when we found out what had happened. It’s ridiculous. There'’s no rhyme or reason to it".” Now CAMPS have planned a fundraiser to raise cash to replace the windows. They are holding a car boot sale and coffee morning at the Barrhill Centre on Sunday June 21 from 10am to 2pm with a car costing £10. Anyone interested should contact Lyndsay on 07578388988.

Police are still interested in hearing from anyone who has information over the attack. If you have any details you can contact PC Leslie at Cumnock Police Office on 101.
