NHS Ayrshire & Arran has teamed up with West FM and Westsound to bring you a series of summer roadshows covering the length and breadth of Ayrshire.

So far more than 200 people have found out about local health services, with most of them receiving a mini health check from the Keep Well team. These checks have highlighted a number of issues, including high blood pressure, and people have received health and wellbeing advice as a result. The Keep Well team has also referred eligible people on to other services, including weight management classes. Even our own Chief Executive John Burns took the opportunity for a mini health check.

These drop-in events aim to: highlight to people the range of activities currently underway to support and improve the health and wellbeing of our communities; give people the chance to meet members of NHS Ayrshire & Arran's directors and non-executive board members; and to share NHS Ayrshire & Arran's newly agreed purpose, values and commitments.

Lots of members of the public have already given us their feedback. And if you come along to one of our events and tell us what you think you could be in with the chance of winning an iPad mini! West FM's well-known presenters are attending all of the events and you might even catch them trying out the 'beer goggles' to show how alcohol impairs your vision and co-ordination. Members of the public also have the chance to have their say about the planned move to smoke-free hospital grounds by 2015, with more than 100 people completing a questionnaire so far.
