NHS Ayrshire & Arran's Oral Health Promotion Team has launched its innovative educational show, Gleam - Embrace. The resource, made by teenagers for teenagers, was launched at an event in the Park Hotel, Kilmarnock.
Young people from all over Ayrshire attended and many of them took to the stage to perform the various elements they had helped to develop. They represented Doon Academy, Girvan Academy, Carrick Academy, St Matthew's Academy, Greenwood Academy and James Watt College.
The resource has three main elements to promote good oral health: Gleam - The Musical! an educational DVD highlighting the key oral health messages Gleam - Train Tracks! an eight track audio CD of popular songs with alternative lyrics Gleam - Dance Central! developed in partnership with K:A Leisure which uses the songs from 'Train Tracks' in a three level dance DVD The resource will be available in every secondary school in Ayrshire and will be evaluated over the coming year to measure how successful it has been.
