MERRY With great sadness, we say farewell to Mary Garry Merry, who passed away 19th February 2024 at the admirable age of 94. Mary was born in Auchinleck, East Ayrshire and lived her entire life in her little village, never desiring to move away from family and friends. Mary always kept busy, working at the Bleachfields in Catrine for many years, where she hemmed sheets and linens and met wonderful coworkers, and then at the Knitwear Factory where she sewed zippers and tabs on garments. She was active in her community, assisting at the Church Lunch Club each week and doing for those in need. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband "Jack" John Merry, infant son Robert, older brother Tommy Garry, and younger sister Hamilton Beck. She is survived by her son Garry Merry of Spokane, Washington, sister Hannah Alexander of Cumnock, Scotland, grandchildren Claire Murphy of Reidsville, North Carolina, Neal Merry of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Michael Merry of Greensboro, North Carolina, step-granddaughter Jessica Simpson of Alameda, California, and four great granddaughters. Service for Mary will be held on Tuesday 19th March at 11:00am at the Auchinleck Parish Church, followed by a light reception in her honor at the Dumfries Arms Hotel in Cumnock.
