PITCH BATTLE
A local club's hopes of installing a new artificial pitch have been dealt a major funding blow.
Glenafton had applied to Sportscotland for funding but were last week notified by the organisation that their bid was unsuccessful.
But Glenafton chief John Timpany reckons Sportscotland were looking for excuses aftter saying the funding bid was rejected because of issues surrounding the constitution, a funding shortfall and East Ayrshire Council's pitch strategy.
Mr Timpany says the club refuses to be beaten and they will look at alternatives.
