One of the best-known families in junior football is in mourning after the sad death of Cumnock legend Maxi McCulloch, aged 85.

McCulloch was one of Cumnock's most well-known post-war players, serving the club for 18 years including skippering them in their Scottish Junior Cup Final in 1949-50, which they lost to Blantyre Victoria. But he will always be remembered as part of one of the most famous footballing families in Ayrshire football history. Maxi's son Bobby skippered Nock to Junior Cup success in 1979 and 1989, while grandson Scott had a successful senior career with Rangers, Dunfermline and Partick Thistle, and is currently plying his trade with Stenhousemuir.

Cumnock Secretary George Morton said McCulloch would be 'sadly missed'.
