DALZIEL HAILS YOUNG GUNS

Glenafton boss Gordon Dalziel hailed his young stars after their terrific Scottish Cup win over Whitburn.

Glens went into the tie as underdogs as opponents Whitburn had won 15 league games in a row and conceded just one goal all season. But Chic Connolly's second-half strike earned the New Cumnock men a place in the Fourth Round.

And Dalziel reckons it was a near miracle that his team managed to win, given their recent gruelling run which has seen them not play a home match since October 13.
