FARDEN THEY FALL
By Craig Winning
Continuing depopulation in New Cumnock has contributed to the ‘imminent’
demolition of a number of houses in the village.
East Ayrshire Council has announced that a significant number of houses in Farden Avenue are to be flattened, while they are consulting with residents in the street on future plans, which will likely see the remaining properties come down at a later date.
New Cumnock Community Councillor Alex Jess reckons it was inevitable that the Council would start demolishing properties, and believes the depopulation issue affecting New Cumnock and the surrounding area has been a factor.
Mr Jess said: “It’s sad that the houses in Farden Avenue are going to be demolished, but I think it was inevitable.”
