PRAISE FOR FOOTY ACE

By Sandy Kilpatrick

Printer Print Article

Voluntary Football Trainer John ‘Jocky’ Hunter has been hailed as ‘first class’, and Councillor Elaine Dinwoodie has said the area could do with more people like him.

But 65-year old Jocky’s real goal is to keep the youth of Dalrymple on the straight and narrow, give them an incentive and he claims, ‘it’s just something I do’.

Since his retirement Jocky, originally the Chair of Maybole Juniors for five years, has dedicated his time to doing what he loves - training the possible football aces of tomorrow.

Jocky said: “I enjoy football. When you play a sport you try and put something back in it.

"I’m not a great believer in going in it for the glory. I’m not in it for that, it’s for the boys. You see them develop into something, it could be the future of their career.”
