Curry loving thieves trash girl's home
Filthy yobs broke into a Cumnock girl’s flat and helped themselves to a curry from her freezer - then stole it
The thieves littered her McClymont Court home with syringes, bottles, smashed eggs and even defecated on her carpet before making off with her cooker, washing machine, and vacuum cleaner.
The Cumnock girl - who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, and too afraid to return home and is currently living with her family elsewhere in town - said: “They put the curry tray in my reading bag inside my cupboard, they must have thought it was a bin bag.”
The girl’s mum said: “I can’t believe they had the cheek to make themselves something to eat.”
She also claims that it was East Ayrshire Council fault her daughters home was broken into because they were ‘neglecting their responsibilities’.
She said: “The security doors aren’t working, there are no lights in the halls, and the windows downstairs you can just pull open from the outside. Someone is liable to clean this mess up.”
Chris McAleavey, Head of Housing said: “The main entrance door is continually vandalised and numerous repairs have been carried out, but each time it has immediately been vandalised again.
“I have now been advised the door has been repaired so many times that it may no longer be fit for repair and will require replacing.
“In regards to the tenant in question, a new front door was fitted on Wednesday August 6 after the break in., which was reported on August 5.
“The Council stand by the decision that the cleaning of the flat is the responsibility of the tenant and not the Council.
