The families of two opencast workers killed in an accident at Pennyvenie Opencast near Dalmellington are a step closer to getting answers into the causes of the fatalities.

Scottish Coal today (Thursday) appeared on four charges of breaching health and safety legislation, three of which relate to the incident on February 26 when Brian French and Colin Ferguson were killed.

The case at Ayr Sheriff Court has been continued until August 18 after both parties agreed a plea.
