RAIL DISRUPTION UNTIL AUGUST
By Craig Winning
Commuters travelling to and from Auchinleck, Kirkconnel and Sanquhar face major disruption when a two week closure of the Kilmarnock-Dumfries line gets underway this Saturday.
The engineering works which will be completed on Sunday, August 3, are to allow Network Rail to complete double tracking of the Gretna-Annan route.
The closure will also allow for substantial rail replacement work to be carried out on the Kilmarnock-Dumfries line.
