One of the oldest museums in East Ayrshire is set for a radical transformation if lottery funding comes through.

The Baird Institute in Cumnock, which is more than 100 years old, will be revamped and extended as part of an £800,000 project. However, the scheme is all dependent on whether an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund is successul.

East Ayrshire Council has already agreed to fund the project, and one local historian - Cumnock man Dane Love - thinks it is an exciting project which could kickstart overall regeneration plans for the town.
