Work on the first part of a major regeneration project in Cumnock can now go ahead after being given Council backing.

The first phase of the ambitious Woodroad Park project - which will include a new children's playpark and improved parking facilities - is expected to be completed by the summer after the Council's Cabinet approved plans submitted by the Woodroad Park Regeneration Forum.

The decision was greeted with delight by members of the Forum, who have worked hard over the past year to try and get the scheme off the ground.
